WORLD CLASS COMPETITION SINCE 1954

2008 marks the 55th Annual "Heart of the North Rodeo". Top competitors from around the country compete in the 3 day event.

As last year, there WILL BE NO SUNDAY AFTERNOON RODEO!

The Sunday afternoon Rodeo has been replaced with a Thursday night Rodeo performance.

Pro Rodeo events include bull and bronco riding, steer wrestling, roping, barrel racing, bareback riding and team roping.

The town of Spooner goes all out to make the weekend enjoyable for all ages. Other events include a Saturday afternoon equestrian parade, the Coronation of the Rodeo Queen, live music every night, and the popular Cowboy Sunday morning service held outdoors at the rodeo arena.

There are top notch vendors and food service booths.

Spooner Rodeo's Exceptional Rodeo

SPECIAL FUN FOR SPECIAL KIDS

No one has more fun at the Heart of the North Rodeo than the kids who take part in Spooner's Exceptional Rodeo. That's why Spooner Rodeo Committee is proud to present this special event for kids with special needs as the kick-off of Rodeo Weekend. The Exceptional Rodeo is set for 6:30 p.m., just before the regular Thursday night Rodeo performance. Come early to cheer on these special kids and their pro rodeo partners who'll assist them in the goat relay, roping dummy steers, eight-second rides on hand-rocked bulls and bareback horses, specially-designed steer wrestling, and a flag race on walking horses. Just imagine the thrill of it all for the kids who take part.

Exceptional Rodeo has been so popular here in Spooner that, even though the national program was discontinued years ago, local rodeo committee members have chosen to keep it going here under their own leadership. Each child who participates takes home a cowboy hat, a cowboy bandanna, and a T-shirt, as well as a lot fond memories of fun, smiles, hugs and your applause.

The 45-minute performance will be announced by Kelly Kenney, the official rodeo announcer. After every child has a turn to take part, each will receive individual recognition, a trophy and an autographed picture of himself or herself with a rodeo partner.

For more information about competing in Exceptional Rodeo, contact Sue Krantz at 715/469-3396.
